Skaven vs Orruks - Age of Sigmar battle report

Tuesday night at the Grumpy Goblin Gaming Emporium is tabletop night so once again we rock up to represent AoS, this week I am joined by my good friend and old enemy Drew "da big boss".
Using the SCGT comp pack, with 70 pool armies. We rolled up battle plan 4, Fire and Brimstone, so basically scenery debuff's units inside and blocks line of sight, with a chance of killing any one inside.

Orruks
3 units of 10 Orruks boyz
15 Black Orruks
10 Boar boyz
Shaman on boar
Warboss on boar.
Grimgor iron hide.
Greenskins big mob Formations
Skaven
3 units of 10 Clanrats
30 Stormvermin
2 Warp fire throwers
Rattling cannon
Poison wind Mortar
Skaven Warlord
Thanquol on Bone ripper
Verminus clawpack formation.
Deployment Orruks - left to right - Orruk Boyz, Orruks Boys, Black Orruks, Grimgor, Boar boys, Warboss, Shaman. Boyz
Skaven - left to right - Clanrats, Thanquol, Warp fire, Warlord, Stormvermin, Poison wind, warpfire, Clanrats, Clanrats, Rattling gun.
Skaven Warlord leading from the back.

Strong Skaven center.

Orruks center
Turn 1 Orruk
Shaman casts Mystic shield on the Boar boyz. The whole mob of Orruks run at the ratmen. The boar boys are hoping to be the first into the fray. But the boar's they ride bulk at the long distance their riders want them to run. Fearing to be caught out in the open, away from the mob.
Turn 1 Skaven
Thanquol gives the blessings of tbe horned rat to the Stormvermin, followed by mystic shield. Then eyeing the Ortuk shaman across the battlefield Thanquol cast a scorch on the greenskin.
Skaven warlord commands everyone to "Gnash and gnaw their bones".
Poison wind mortar, lobes a globe into the boar boys, dropping one. The rattling gunner calls for "more-more hot warp lead." And fires at the Orruk boys on the flank killing 3.
Stormvermin take heart in there superior numbers and that the boar boys are un supported and charge.
Much hacking , slashing, gnashing and gnawing later, 7 Boar boyz lay dead (and mostly eaten) the rest flee the battlefield as quick as they can.
Turn 2
Rolled for initiative, first settles my 2. Then settle's his 1!
Skaven cunning wins again!

Skaven
Warlord urges everyone to gnash and gnaw their bones.
Thanquol gives the blessings of the horned rat and a mystic sheild to the Stormvermin. Then tries to burn the shaman some more.
The rattling gun, kills a few more Orruk boyz on the flank. Poison wind mortar she'll misses it's target the Black orruks.
Buoyed by their success the stormvermin run into the Orruk leaders. Shaman is hacked down guickly but the Warboss is made of sterner stuff. And keeps fighting.
Turn 2 Orruk
From his mounted position the Orruk Warboss can see over the sea of vermin to the black orruks running to his aid, with a thunderous scream be calls Da Big Waahhgg! Orruk boys on the flank charge the Rattling gun. Black Orruks charge the Stormvermin.
A brutal combat follows, heads and limbs, both green and furry go flying in all directions! 4 Orruks are killed, 2 more are incapacitated. Half the stormvermin die or flee! But not before the Orruk Warboss is drowned under a furry tide.
Center Boyz, run toward the Skaven guns,
And Waahhgg! Their way into combat
They get too close to Bone ripper though who piles into the green-skins.
Moving to the defence of their weapons team, the clanrats exact a toll of the boys on the flank, in return the rattling gun is damaged a little.
Boneripper smashes and clubs his way through 8 of da boys, unsurprisingly the last 2 flee. Weapon teams have been damaged, but not killed.
Turn 3 Skaven
Thanquol casts scroch and Arcane bolt at the black Orruks, but dispite the copious amounts of warpstone consumed only one of the spells works. And only kills one of the Black Orruks.
Warp fire throwers finally get range on a target, Grimgor, both call for a double load of fire, but one is damaged from the Orruks earlier attacks and explodes in a green flaming ball, the other is put of his aim and only Splashes Grimgor with a little fire.
Mortar team pumps extra pressure into a long range shot and kills 5 Orruks that have been claiming their territory.
Clanrats finish of the Orruks (in a previous turn) and not move to claim the Orruks territory.
Boneripper storms into the black Orruks. Fists flailing he kills 4 of the tough black Orruks.
Skaven Warlord takes a wound.
Turn 3 Orruks
Things are looking bleak for the green-skinz, so Grimgor makes a last ditch charge to cut off the rats head, surging into Thanquol screaming his WAAGH!
Hacking and slashing wildly he managed to inflict wounds on the monstrous rat orge, leaping high and pulling himself up he comes face to face with Thanquol, pulling back his head to butt the rat man...... he over balances as the moving beasts shifts, falling back to the ground. Lying prone the last thing he sees are Bonerippers Warp braziers smoke trailing as they smash the Orruk into the churned loam of the battlefield.
Seeing the biggest Orruk take a decisive pummling the remaining Orruks take flight leaving the Skaven to claim the terrority.
Victory Skaven
Well I had fun, although he took a kicking my opponent still enjoyed himself, It was his first introduction to SCGT pools and scenarios, so with a little practice i'm sure he'll be giving me  kicking in no time. The scenario meant that we both avoided terrain completely, so it didn't affect to battle it just broke up the field.

Stormcast/Seraphon vs Skaven - Battle report

This week, Sean and I decided to reduce the army size down to 70 pool choices from the SCGT pack, as last week we ran out of time.

The scenario we rolled up was Winds of Death, Battle plan 2 of the same pack. A control the objective (we used red dice) scenario, but with added danger as the objective increase the chance of environmental damage.

Storm cast/Seraphon
Lord Celestant
Lord Relictor
5 Liberators x2
3 Decimators
3 Prosecutors
Old blood on Carnosaur
12 Sauras warriors
Slick Priest.

Skaven
Arch warlock
2 Pack masters
2 units of 3 Stormfiends
2 units of 3 Rat Ogors
3 units of 10 Clanrats

Deployment Skaven
I started moving before rembering to take the picture.
Skaven left to right - Rat ogors, Clanrats, pack master, Stormfiends. Arch warlock. Stormfiends, pack master, rat ogors. Backfield 2 units of Clanrats holding objectives.

Turn 1 Skaven
Sensing an ambush the rats cautiously advance.

Deployment Seraphon/Stormcast
Skink priest holds the Tower. Sauras hold the ruin objective. Old blood on Carnosaur in the middle. Stormcast deploy in Azyr.
Turn 1 Seraphon/Storm cast
Stormcast wait in Azyr. Carnosaur runs for rough terrain and cover. Old bloods sun beam weapon wounds a Stormfiend.
Turn 2 Seraphon/ Stormcast
Lightning strikes the ground all over the battlefield and as the after glow fades the Stormcast have arrived. Liberators behind the lines ready to smash the Clanrats. Prosecutor's in the back tower to claim it. Relictor and Devestator's on the left to seize that objective. Celestant on Dracoth lands in front of the clanrats. Oldblood and Dracoth use their ranged ability's to wound a stormfiend.

Prosocuters and Decimators land.
Liberators Charge the Clanrats, several rats die to only a a wound on each unit of liberators.
Turn 2 Skaven
Arch warlock is befuddled by the mystical terrian. Right Flank Clanrats move up to form a thin brown line, to deny the Celestant a way forward. Right flank Rat Ogors move up to contest the middle  objective. Fiends open fire on the Old blood, in a hail of bullets, poison wind and warp fire. As the smoke clears the old blood limps forward, but is notoriously still alive (1 wound remains)
Left flanks objective Clanrats retreat from the liberator's. Better to avoid the hammers for a round.
The Rat ogors on the right flank, turn around to get at the Liberators. Whipped into a frenzy by the pack master, the Ogors tear the Liberators down to one man. He kills an couple of Clanrats as revenge. Before they retaliate and take him down.
End of the turn Seraphon/Stormcast control 2 objectives to the state's 1, so gain a victory point.

Nagash's laughter rumbles through the realm, the night haunts go on an orgy of attacks wounding many of the combatants.
Turn 3 Seraphon/Stormcast
Dracoth and Old blood shoot at the fiends killing 1 and wounding another. The they charge the enemies in front of them.
Only the Relictor makes it into combat with the Ogors. Wounds are exchanges but no one dies.
Old blood kills a fiend and inspite his bloodied state the Stormfiends is unable to kill him. Celestant goes nuts and kill 7 Clanrats, the 3 remaining unsurprisingly flee.
Night haunts (scenario) kill half the Clanrats the other half flee the battle in shock.
Not taken enough photos
Rat Ogres hold the objective. Lord celestant rides down the flank and slams into the Rat Ogors, the rat beasts take the initiative and rip the celestant and Dracoth to pieces
On the left flank, the Lord Relictor's lightning strike is off target, then the rat ogors kill the Relictor. Angry about leaders death the decimator, charge into the Ogors killing one, but then die from the remaining mutant rats and their pack master.
On the back left flank, Liberators charge after the  Clanrats, catching and killing them, but not before they lose one of their own.
The last remaining Stormfiends, is armed with warp fire throwers raise both arms and burns the old blood and dinosaur to death.
The tower garrison of Stormfiends exit the building to run back and retake the hill. Unleashing a hail of bullets, gas and fire as they run, they assault the hill and kill the liberators a top it.
Combined arms of the Ogors and their master kill the decimators.
Last couple of turns follow quickly as we Theory out how the battle will finish, I have 3 capturing units left to claim 3 objectives for the next 2 turns. My opponent's units are no long big enough to claim objectives or big enough to dislodge me from mine. I score 2 points.

Skaven victory
You will be wondering what happened to my arch warlock. Well he entered the Mystical terrain turn 1 and the failed the next 3 turns worth of befuddled tests.

Great game, that only swung with some lucky combats turn 3.
That scenario really spreads out your forces. And with the night haunts attacking both opponent's at the end of each turn, small units quickly find them self's too weak to claim any objective's.

Brettonian vs Skaven - SCGT 100 pools - Battle summary

I was lucky enough recently that the opening of a new local gaming store, lead me to getting in contact with an AoS player I hadn't meet before. We got talking and quickly arranged a game.

In our initial conversation we both discussed our interest in the SCGT comp pack that had recently came out, so we made our lists based on those rules and choose our 100 pool choices.

Brettonian's
Brettonian Lord
Damsel of the lady
Paladin battle standard.
Paladin on foot
10 Knights of the realm
5 Grail knights
20 Peasant bowmen
Field trebuchet.
3 Pegasus Knights
10 Men at arms
5 Knights Errant

Skaven
Warlord with warpforged blade
Grey seer
Pack master
20 Stormvermin
20 Clanrats x2
Doom wheel
Warp lighting cannon
Rattling gun
3 Jezzials
5 Gutter runners
3 Rat ogres
3 Stormfiends (grinder, doomflayer and shook)
Hell pit Abomination

The scenario we played was game 3 from the SCGT pack, Garden of life. Basic concept is to capture terrain.

Deployment
Brett's left to right - Pegasus, Grail Knights, Knights of the realm, Brettonian Lord. Knights Errant. Damsel. Paladin Standard bearer. Men at arms. Archers, field trebuchet. Paladin on foot
Skaven left to right- Warlord, Rat ogors, Pack master. Abomination, Jezzials, Rattling gun, Stormvermin, Warp lightning cannon, Clanrats, Grey Seer, Clanrats, Doom wheel.
Reserves - Gutter runners and Stormfiends

Turn 1 Brettonian
Lord inspires the Knights of the realm. And the Damsel bestows the blessing of the lady on them as well. They continue to do this all battle.
Cavalry canters forward, hoping for a long early charge. Trebuchet aim's a shot at stormvermin, hits but only kills a handful. Knights attempt to charge but only the Pegasus knight make it into the rat ogor's. An Ogor bis slain but so is a Pegasus when the Skaven Warlord piles in and chops it down with his warpforged blade.
Turn 1 Skaven
Pack master whips the Abomination into the fray. Grey Seer, tell his underlings they will not flee, and does so for the rest of the battle, but fails to cast any spells.
Doom wheel, zooms down the right flank, as the Abomination shambles down the left.  Troops advance the battle line while the artillery maneuvers into firing posistions. Stormfiends and gutter runners use the Gnaw holes to find their way on to the battlefield.
Jezzials fail to kill any grail knights. Rattling gunner calls for more hot warp lead, and sprays a lot of bullets at the knights of the realm, killing a couple. Warp lighting canon shoots and kills a handful of the Knights Errant. Doom wheel weakly zaps at the paladin, but misses the noble.
Abomination charges into the grail knights, chomps down on 4 of them. Stormvermin charge the Knights of the realm  take a few casualties, but cause just as many on the knights. Doom wheel slams into the paladins front, while the gutter runners seek to jump him from behind, the paladin is wounded but there is still plenty of fight left in him. Stormfiends fail to make it into the peasant archers.

Pegasus recognise the threat the Warlord poses, so direct their attacks at him, the Raman is slain, in revenge the rat ogors pull one flying knight from the sky.

Turn 2 Bretonnia
Errant knights charge the Doomwheel. Lord charges the Clanrats. Peasant archers rain a arrow storm (80 shots!) on the fiends killing one (and a half) of them. Trebuchet Lands a good hit on the right flank Clanrats. Killing 10! 7 more flee the field. Dommwheel/paladin combat grinds on despite all the additional support neither side can break the deadlock. Brettonian Lord swings badly only killing a few Clanrats in the middle, but despite their massive numbers they only return a single wound. Grind in the center continues with loses on both sides. Abomination kills the final Grail night, Rat Ogors feast on flying horse.

Turn 2 Skaven
Rat ogors fly down the flank to claim terrain, but don't run far enough. Abomination turns into the center of the  field. Rattling gun and Jezzials open fire on the knights in the center killing all but one, who is promptly cut down by stormvermin. Brettonian Lord, shows the Clanrats what is capable of, kills 9 of them. A knight errant is killed in the doom wheel combat. Stormfiends charge into the trebuchet and bowmen, destroying the trebuchet and killing some peasants.

Turn 3 Brettonian
Brettonian Lord breaks from combat to travel, so he can try to claim the ruins in the center. Errants and Damsel retreat take the right most ruin. Men at Arms charge into the doom wheel, but have a bad day and get mauled by spinning wheels. Peasant bowmen shot down a fiend in their midst, but he retaliates and kills a good number of them.
Turn 3 Skaven
Skaven guns turn on the lord in the ruin and a combination of the Jezzials rattling and the cannon, blow him to smithers. Clanrats in the ruin charge the Damsel but cannot kill her. Doomwheel is still not able to kill the mounted paladin. But the rest of the men at arms die when a few remaining Clanrats flank charge them. Stormfiends confines to rip up peasants.

Draw
And Thats when we called it due to lack of time. We decided it to be a draw, neither of us had succeeded in claiming the others territory yet. And with 2 unplayed turns it could have gone either way.
Looking forward to a rematch, we decided to drop the army size for the next game until we  are more practiced and can play a full game in the 2 and a half hours.

Honourable mentions the grey seers command is a adequate replacement for the now missing Chieftain Standard bearer. It certainly stemmed the loses from my battle Shocks.
